Porter Texas

The sawmill and agriculture industries are the backbone of this community. The community was originally called Porter Mill after the first sawmill in the area. The sawmill site is now Porterwood Shopping Center.

At the intersection of State Highway 494 and Farm Road 1314 in southeastern Montgomery County, Porter, Texas is on the Southern Pacific line.
